One-to-One Centre in Shiremoor has temporarily moved to ward 9, ground floor, North Tyneside General Hospital.
Patient and staff safety must always be the top priority, and concerns over the state of the service’s current home, on Brenkley Avenue, means it will temporarily relocate from 1pm on Thursday 18 April.
From 8.45am on Monday, 29 April, 2024, the service that was provided from Shiremoor will be delivered from Ward 9, which is located on the ground floor, at North Tyneside General Hospital. Opening times are listed below:
- Monday - 8.45am – 5pm
- Tuesday - 8.45am – 5pm
- Wednesday - 8.45am – 5pm (Walk-in available 8.45am-4pm)
- Thursday - 8.45am – 5pm (Walk-in available 8.45am-4pm)
- Friday - 8.45am – 3pm
- Closed some Bank Holidays - ring us for information

Appointments already made and regular appointments should be attended as usual. Please contact the service if you have any queries.
Ensuring the space and environment on the ward is adapted as needed to make patients feel comfortable is a key focus. We know how important privacy is for patients and people can be reassured that their privacy and confidentiality will be maintained at all times. Patients will see the same clinicians that they usually see.
We are working closely with North Tyneside Council in relation to where the service will be located in the future and patients and the public will be kept informed.
We provide:
Sexual health check ups
- Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PReP) Treatment
- HIV testing
- Cervical smears (North Tyneside only)
- Treatment for genital skin problems, vaginal thrush, and other related non-sexual problems
- Support and counselling
- You can choose to get your results by phone call or text. No one will know your test results, unless you choose to tell them
Contraceptive services
- Free contraceptive advice and contraception including condoms, contraceptive pills, implants and coils
- Vasectomy
- Free emergency contraception after condomless sex
- Think you might be pregnant? You can get free pregnancy tests, confidential advice, pregnancy decision making support called Options and termination of pregnancy referrals
Online Consultation
Where appropriate you may be asked to attend a consultation online via a video call.
Rather than travelling to your appointment, you go into the clinic’s online ‘waiting area’. We will be notified when you arrive and your clinician will join you when ready
