Thank you for visiting our page. Our team are all passionate about helping people to better understand and manage throat symptoms that could be affecting breathing or cough.
Our speech and language therapy (SLT) team offers outpatient assessment and therapy clinics in North Tyneside, Hexham, Blyth, Wansbeck, Morpeth, Alnwick, and Berwick. Regular nasendoscopy clinics are available in North Tyneside and Wansbeck hospitals.
All SLTs in our team can offer treatment in outpatient clinics, or via telephone or video call, depending on your preference.
Jen Butler
Jen is also a clinical lecturer at Newcastle University, has contributed to several national research projects and clinical position papers, and has presented at international conferences about voice and upper airway disorders. Jen is passionate about raising awareness about upper airway disorders, to promote earlier diagnosis, and easier access to specialist services.
Liz Green
She leads the nasendoscopy assessment clinics at Wansbeck General Hospital and works in out-patient SLT clinics in both Wansbeck Hospital and Morpeth NHS Centre.
Liz also supports nasendoscopy assessments for inpatients who have swallowing difficulties.
Conor Hunter
Conor led the development of the SLT patient information leaflets for Northumbria Healthcare.
Conor has SLT outpatient clinics at North Tyneside General Hospital, Blyth Community Hospital and Morpeth NHS Centre. He works in nasendoscopy clinics at North Tyneside and Wansbeck General Hospitals, and attends multidisciplinary asthma clinics.
Louise Peace
Louise has worked with people who have voice disorders for 19 years with this trust, and people with respiratory disorders for the last 8 years.
Louise also works with patients who have acquired neurological swallowing difficulties.
Louise is based at North Tyneside General Hospital doing outpatient clinics and does clinics at Blyth and Wansbeck.
She performs nasendoscopies for voice, upper airways, and swallowing disorders, both for out-patents and inpatients.
Gemma Rose
She sees people in clinic, or can support people via telephone, video-call or at home if required.
Gemma’s respiratory work forms part of her ‘general community caseload’ in and around the beautiful locality of Berwick.
This community caseload includes seeing people with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.
Gemma has practiced as a speech and language therapist since 2008.
Jane Sharp
Jane helps to coordinate clinics, answer patient queries, and carries out telephone assessments with patients who have chronic cough and laryngeal hypersensitivity.
She also supports nasendoscopy clinics at North Tyneside and Wansbeck Hospitals and ensures that our patient resources are up to date, and available for all.
