For healthcare professionals
The Podiatry Service is unable to accept the following referrals:
- Social nail cutting
- Verrucae
- Minor fungal nail and skin infections
- Foot deformities with no pain and/or minimal risk of wounds or infection
- Non-painful corns and callous
- Low-risk diabetic foot screening which is managed by your GP surgery
The service accepts referrals from patients with the following high-risk foot needs:
- Patients at significant risk of ulceration/amputation requiring highly specialist podiatric interventions
- Diabetic and Non-diabetic Ulceration below the ankle that requires specialised wound management
- Rheumatoid arthritis and Inflammatory foot conditions
- Neurological conditions causing reduced sensation in the feet
- Immuno-suppression due to drug therapy or a medical condition
- Painful nail deformities
- Acute/infected nail conditions
- Circulatory conditions causing reduced blood supply to the feet
- Painful musculoskeletal foot problems in children and adults
