The Podiatry Service is unable to accept the following referrals:

  • Social nail cutting
  • Verrucae
  • Minor fungal nail and skin infections
  • Foot deformities with no pain and/or minimal risk of wounds or infection
  • Non-painful corns and callous
  • Low-risk diabetic foot screening which is managed by your GP surgery

The service accepts referrals from patients with the following high-risk foot needs:

  • Patients at significant risk of ulceration/amputation requiring highly specialist podiatric interventions
  • Diabetic and Non-diabetic Ulceration below the ankle that requires specialised wound management
  • Rheumatoid arthritis and Inflammatory foot conditions
  • Neurological conditions causing reduced sensation in the feet
  • Immuno-suppression due to drug therapy or a medical condition
  • Painful nail deformities
  • Acute/infected nail conditions
  • Circulatory conditions causing reduced blood supply to the feet
  • Painful musculoskeletal foot problems in children and adults
