About us

The podiatry team at Northumbria Healthcare helps people of all ages with problems affecting their feet or legs.

Our podiatrists are trained professionals registered with the Health Care Professions Council. They work on their own but also as part of a bigger healthcare team, including doctors, nurses, and other specialists.

You can get help from our service by filling in a referral form yourself or by being referred by a doctor or healthcare worker.

Our goal is to help people move around more easily, feel less pain, and improve their daily lives. We also teach people how to take care of their own feet when possible.

Please note: We don’t offer routine toenail cutting unless there is a medical reason for it.

We provide specialist treatment which can include:

  • Wound management and prevention

  • Vascular assessment and pathology management

  • Diabetes foot care of the at-risk foot

  • Treatment of chronic foot problems due to systemic health conditions

  • Surgical treatment of ingrowing toenails at risk of infection/with Infection

  • Musculoskeletal podiatry

  • Podiatric surgery

Our care is delivered in several different sites throughout Northumberland and North Tyneside including:

  • Community health centres
