Our Intermediate Care Unit provides 24 hour qualified nursing and specialist therapy in a safe and relaxed environment.
What to expect
You will have your own room and communal social spaces. Specialist staff will work with you, your family and / or carers to design a package of support tailored to your needs and requirments focusing on helping you return home as soon as you are able.

What to bring with you
During your stay you will need the usual items you would take for a short break, such as:
- Nightclothes, day clothes and well-fitting footware
- Toiletries
- Any medications you are taking, including any prescriptions or over the counter medicines
- Spectacles and any walking or hearing aids and dentures
- Proof of exemption for your prescriptions and proof of identification for collecting certain medicines, if appropriate
- Books or magazines
By road
From the A189, take the exit for the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. At the roundabout on the B1326, continue straight over going past the hospital on your right. Continue for a short distance and Astor Court is on the left.

Car parking is available on site.
You will have your own room with en-suite toilet, and communal social spaces.
