International Nurses Day - In conversation with Beverley Miles

I am District Nurse Team lead for Cramlington and Portrait of a woman wearing a nurses uniform.Seaton Deleval/Seghill DN teams. I been have working in the NHS since 1996, moved to community as staff nurse in 2005 and been District Nurse Team Lead since 2013 when I completed my specialist practice in District Nursing degree (originally North Tyneside then Newcastle, and Northumbria since covid).

I have during this time completed Advanced Clinical Skills and Independent Nurse prescribing to enable me to assess and prescribe for a range of patients alongside leading a large community nursing team.

High standards of patient care is what I strive for and always treating patients and others with empathy and as individuals putting there needs first. The privilege of caring for others and the satisfaction of being able to make a difference to each person I encounter is what keeps me in the role despite the daily pressures and at times frustrations of the role.
