In 2006 we were one of the first NHS organisations in the country to become a foundation trust.
This means we are accountable to the people we serve in Northumberland and North Tyneside and have greater freedoms to plan local services and respond to the needs and wishes of our communities.
As a foundation trust, we are authorised and regulated by independent regulators including NHS England and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Anyone can join us as a member of our trust to help shape local health services by simply completing our online form today. Staff members are automatically enrolled when they start work at the trust unless they choose to opt out.
If you’re as passionate about the NHS as we are, join us as a member of our foundation trust then you’ll have the opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas about the way we deliver care to over half a million people across Northumberland and North Tyneside. We’re a very forward thinking organisation and at the forefront of pioneering changes in the NHS so it’s a great time to join us.
You can be involved as much or as little as you like, from simply receiving voting papers to donating your time as a volunteer or standing for election to become a trust governor. It is absolutely free to become a member and you can opt out any time.
By joining us as a foundation trust member you will:
- be informed about our work
- vote for governors who help shape our services and priorities
- be able to stand as a governor
- be able to join our Northumbria online community
- benefit from NHS discounts in shops and online
Anyone who is over the age of 12 is eligible and you can be involved as much or as little as you want. If you are a member of staff you will automatically become a staff foundation trust member when you join the Trust, you cannot be both a staff member and a public member.
